• November 18, 2007 Macon Telegraph: First county seat of Baldwin, Putnam commemorated today.
• November 11, 2007 Washington Post: We are finally coming to claim our writers. Larry is quoted in the article about Georgia's writers, including Alice Walker and Joel Chandler Harris. He is referred to as a local historical and environmental preservationist.
• November, 7, 2007 Macon Union-Recorder: Governor awards grant for Putnam's Old Jail. Larry has been spearheading the effort to get the jail preserved and renovated, and established as the Central Georgia Judicial Museum. Pic of Larry with Governor Purdue and local officials accepting OneGeorgia grant award.

Greatest achievements (so far):

• Completed 6 marathons and 3 triathlons. Won age group at the Auburn (Alabama) triathlon, 1984.
• Biked 5000 miles in the year 2000

For exercise, I enjoy shuffling around the house in my underwear while reading magazines. This allows me to achieve my dream of multi-tasking in all areas of my life.

I always dreamed about being in the Mafia, but when I applied, they said I was too mean.

Whenever I am losing an argument with a family member, I say confusing things in the hopes that they will think they are not smart enough to argue with me. (Editor's note: this does not work nearly as well as he thinks. We are on to him!)

I only laugh at my own jokes. Laughing at the jokes of others is a sign of weakness.

I like to finish every meal with a nice tooth-picking.

My life:

In 1964, I married the love of my life, Jenny. Without her, I would still be a parking lot attendant in downtown Atlanta. She lets me fish and play golf as long as I massage her bunions every night.
