    Environmental Defense Fund was started by the group that went to court in 1967 to halt the spraying of DDT on the marshes of Long Island. The site has environmental news and links. You can sign up for their email newsletter.
    Greenpeace International. Their goal is to "ensure the ability of the earth to nurture life in all its diversity."
    The Sierra Club is a nonprofit, member-supported, public interest organization that promotes conservation of the natural environment by influencing public policy decisions: legislative, administrative, legal, and electoral.
    The National Audobon Society has sanctuaries and nature centers nationwide, and makes its voice heard in DC on environmental issues.
    Friends of the Earth is focused on three areas:

  • Economics for the Earth Program: eliminating government subsidies that hurt the environment, and promoting economic policies that promote sustainable development, strengthen communities, and provide economic security.
  • International Program: working with groups around the world to promote sustainable development and environmental justice.
  • Community, Health, and Environment Program: working in communities around the country to involve citizens address environmental problems.

  • EarthShare is a federation of America's leading non-profit environmental and conservation charities.
    Worldwatch Institute is a nonprofit public policy research organization dedicated to informing policymakers and the public about emerging global problems, such as global climate change and the population problem.
