    Pollution and Waste

A Civil Active is an independent effort to educate the public about the issues addressed in the book and movie, A Civil Action.
Toxics Action Center trains and assists residents to fight polluters. Since 1987, the Toxics Action Center has assisted more than 200 neighborhood groups fighting pollution in their communities.
Center for Health, Environment, and Justice was founded in 1981 by Lois Gibbs in the wake of Love Canal. An entirely grassroots organization, they don't accept government or corporate funds. They work to educate people and help them fight for the right to a clean and healthy environment, for example helping small, rural towns keep dumps and incinerators out. Outside magazine evaluated the top 25 environmental organizations in the U.S., and ranked CHEJ number one.
The Children's Health Environmental Coalition was founded by Nancy and Jim Chuda after they lost their only child, Colette to a rare form of non-genetic cancer, Wilm's tumor. They believe Colette's illness and death were due to an unhealthy environment. The site has a guide to household products and the chemicals they contain.
